Assessing the Health System: Stakeholders, Challenges, and Solutions
Has the Health System Progressed?
Health is more than just the absence of disease; according to the World Health Organization (WHO), it encompasses physical, mental, and social dimensions. The progression of the health system must be evaluated based on these comprehensive aspects.
The Role of Reference Books and Localization Challenges:
Despite the importance of reference texts, why are these resources—often taught abroad—not fully localized to our domestic context? This lack of adaptation and alignment with local standards, as well as the absence of necessary infrastructure for health tourism, acts as a weakness and a contributing factor to the incomplete progress of the health system.
Who are the Main Stakeholders and Authorities?
Due to the inherent complexity of healthcare, primary governance, oversight, and management rest with the government and the Ministry of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education. Executive institutions and sectors related to environmental determinants (such as water, air, and food) are also deeply involved.
Influencing Factors and Challenges:
Human errors, systemic health errors, and gaps in cross-sectoral collaboration significantly impact system performance.
Solutions:
Enhancing disease prevention, improving environmental factors, adapting management models to local contexts, and facilitating better healthcare access for patients.
